We are super excited to announce that our Helsinki-based alt rock band Cyan Kicks is taking part in this year’s UMK!
UMK – The Contest for New Music (Uuden musiikin kilpailu) is an annual song competition organized by the Finnish Broadcasting Company YLE that introduces new music from Finland’s most current songwriters and artists. The winner will represent Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest next May in Turin, Italy.
Cyan Kicks competes in UMK22 with the song HURRICANE. Hurricane is an energetic, electronic-infused rock song that does not lack attitude and is all about finding and embracing one’s inner willpower and strength. The song was cowritten last summer together with the band’s songwriting duo Susanna and Niila and Elize Ryd, the singer of the Swedish metal band Amaranthe. There is also a hardcore production team behind the song: it is produced by the US musician-producer Chris Walla, who is known from the band Death Cab for Cutie and score music, and mixed by one of today’s busiest and most in-demand music industry talents, Zakk Cervini (Bring Me The Horizon, Halsey, Limp Bizkit).
